There’s much discussion these days about passion and purpose in the workplace. A Google search of passion at work results in 11,5000,000 hits. Many often confuse passion and purpose. A search of purpose and work results in 21,300 hits. Purpose in the workplace, 61,400.

So, what is the difference between passion and purpose and how do the two connect?

Purpose defines why one is on the planet. Some refer to purpose as a calling. Others, as ones “life work.”

Passion is energy - emotional, physical, mental, psychic and, often, spiritual that drives one and supports one to engage in, and focus on, ones efforts - sometimes purposeful, sometimes not.

How did society and culture develop in these early times? The Bible speaks of everything being created perfectly by Almighty God, but then it also describes how things went so terrible wrong suddenly, until we have a murder, and we have only reached Chapter 4 of Genesis.

Cain is so determined to create a worldly society - leaving God out of it - and this is where there is spiritual warfare today. But secular ways and secular things can be used of God. Our work - our industry - our service - our commercial transactions and trading - our music and culture - can all be redeemed by the saving Blood of Jesus Christ.

Do you know my friend Peter? He was an amazing character when he was alive. He was the type of man who would persist and never give up or even consider giving in. Of course, he was not always like that.

The story I am recounting to you can be found in the New Testament book of Acts in Chapter 10. This was one of the biggest and most significant breakthroughs in the world but many do not recognise it as being so very important. Do take time and make time to read the account for yourself. It is vitally important to feed regularly upon God’s holy Word, and not just thoughts from the Scriptures.

We all like to give to others but few of us like to give anything to ourselves. Periodically throughout the year it is essential to do something for yourself, whether it is going to your favourite store and buying that outfit you had been desiring for a wee while, or enjoying a night at the movies or a quiet dinner at your favourite restaurant. Whichever your choice it is always beneficial to treat yourself weekly with something to reward your achievements.

In my studies of human development, I found that procrastination destroys more things than any other single element. If this habit gets out of control, it ruins marriages, careers, relationships, and self worth. Over time, it has the capability to grow until it completely paralyzes an individual. The effect equally devastates the people doing the procrastinating and all others around them.

My aim and goal in writing from Acts Chapter 9 in the New Testament is to seek to show, amongst other things, how vitally important friends are. Some friends are named and others remain unnamed, but each played his part.

This man who had been so very violent against disciples of Jesus Christ finally joins The Christian Fellowship. This is an important principle. From the very beginning Saul is committed to The Church of Jesus Christ. He was a physical visible member. Wherever he goes over the next 30 years, Paul (as he was later called) is committed to The Church, which is The Body of Christ. No matter what city or community he goes to, we see this vital principle. Now this is not widely taught.
