What Is Sal Like?

March 20, 2008 By: admin Category: Travel and Leisure No Comments →

Sal is an island in the Republic Of Cape Verde, which is a group of sub-tropical islands lying about 500 km off the west coast of Africa.

The three eastern islands, of which Sal is the northern one, are known as the sandy islands, indeed the centre one Boa Vista is advertised as ‘The Island of Dunes’.

Sal boasts 350 days of sun annually and the temperature throughout the year varies by only a few degrees either side of a pleasant 26oC. These days rain is a rarity; indeed the first thing you notice on leaving the airport is how arid the island is. The tour guide said they had not had any decent rain for 25 years. Much to everyone’s surprise we did have an hour or two of rain on a couple of days.

Florida Forever

February 20, 2008 By: admin Category: Travel and Leisure No Comments →

Nature was not to be altered.

Just a weekend away in glorious Scottish countryside, with no hurry, little traffic on the roads - that for some is ideal. Many stay in vacation rental properties where they can control what time they get up, have breakfast and if they want to spend the day in their cottage they can do so comfortably.

How To Get The Cheapest Prices For Airfare

January 18, 2008 By: admin Category: Travel and Leisure No Comments →

First, go through discount airfare brokers such as Economy Travel. If you find a cheap flight price and doubt that you can get any lower, end your search immediately and book the flight. If you end up on an overbooked flight because of a special discounted rate for that flight, you might find yourself flying standby, or switched to a later flight that disrupts your vacation and travel plans.

January 14, 2008 By: admin Category: Travel and Leisure No Comments →

Every now and again you come to a point when you just need a break. A time-out from the busy daily grind and hustle and bustle of city life. Usually around September you notice more accidents, more road rage and that people tend to get annoyed quicker with one another. It’s the post-winter blues as I like to call it. When you simply have had enough of gloomy winter and are ready for basking in the summer sun. This is usually the time of year when I seek out a self catering sanctuary in Cape Town.
