Run Like A Champion

May 08, 2008 By: admin Category: Recreation and Sports No Comments →

Marathon runners use carbohydrates and fats to fuel their bodies. Fats are burned aerobically and carbohydrates are burned anaerobically and aerobically. For runners, carbohydrates are the fuel of choice, however carbs will only sustain a marathon for the first 18 to 20 miles in a race. This includes even the most gifted runners who start the race fully fueled. To run like a champion, you need nutrition for champions, with a good diet that is high in carbs and a beneficial combination of vitamins.

Kobe Bryant Gunning For First Nba Mvp

April 23, 2008 By: admin Category: Recreation and Sports No Comments →

Kobe Bryant is fighting to get the Lakers top-seed in the NBA West. Plenty of competition as well in the battle for his first NBA MVP.

Kobe Bryant is the unquestioned leader of the Los Angeles Lakers. Flirting with triple-doubles on a nightly basis, his cast is better than when the NBA season began, but it is still Kobe Bryant that leads things in LA. His first NBA MVP could be on the way, but Kevin Garnett and Chris Paul stand in Kobe’s way.

Are Your Martial Arts Lessons Carrying Over Into Your World?

March 30, 2008 By: admin Category: Recreation and Sports No Comments →

One of the main reasons folks are attracted to the martial arts is the implied or stated benefit of becoming stronger, more confident, and tougher.

In many dojos, without question, you’ll achieve these goals.

When you step onto the mat you’ll spar with fewer fears and butterflies, be able to withstand kicks and strikes, and authoritatively pay them back in kind.

But when you put on your street gear, and especially those business or work outfits, do you shrink from being a king of the mat to a doormat?

Interview With Youth Football Coach Dave Cisar

March 28, 2008 By: admin Category: Recreation and Sports No Comments →

Here is the text of an Interview I did with the Single Wing Sentinel. The Sentinel is a great resource for Single Wing coaches as it showcases High School teams around the country that are running the Single Wing Offense.

10 Questions with Dave Cisar

Single Wing Sentinel: What drew you into coaching?

Dave Cisar: When I was growing up, the game taught me lessons that I used later in life in school and business. Had the game and coaching not been there and those lessons not been taught, I doubt that I would have enjoyed the success I did in those other areas.

Camping With Your Horse

March 28, 2008 By: admin Category: Recreation and Sports No Comments →

There are few things in life that are more enjoyable than horse camping. To get away from work, the city, the noise and traffic, to escape to a world of big, blue skies, wide open spaces, tall trees and mountains, fresh air and endless trails … spending hours with your favorite horse (and friends and family, so long as they are good company, too!). Life just doesn’t get much better than this.

On the other hand, a weekend camp-out with your favorite equine friend can also be a recipe for disaster if you are unprepared or unsure of how to handle a wilderness adventure. Camping with horses is fun, but does require advance preparation and planning.

Is It Possible To Do Submission Grappling Without Getting Injured?

March 26, 2008 By: admin Category: Recreation and Sports No Comments →

Is it possible to be a grappler and train injury free? By some reactions that I’ve received in the past, many tend to think that grappling “injury-free” is very possible. Some grapplers like to believe that most injuries could be avoided if training partners were more considerate and less competitive while training.

Ironman Triathlon — What To Do The Day Before Your First One

March 20, 2008 By: admin Category: Recreation and Sports No Comments →

Oh my God!!

One day to go until my first Ironman!

What on earth do I do on that last day?

If you are preparing for your first Ironman, you will soon be facing this question.

Here are a few things to do and not to do on that last day…..

Whatever you do, don’t do a hard workout of any sort.

Do however, a short workout(15-20 minutes)in each event. Just enough to keep you sharp for your race the next morning. Its not recommended to take this day completely off. Mark Allen(a Hawaii Ironman champion many times over)suggests 10 by 10 second sprints in each event on that final day.

The Regs Of Rock Climbing

March 14, 2008 By: admin Category: Recreation and Sports No Comments →

The main regs for rock climbing involve the use of common sense. There are other more concrete rules associated with the sport.

There are no set of rules that applies to the sport and hobby of rock climbing per se. Certain areas impose their own rules on climber before allowing them to climb in their jurisdictions. These rules generally began with the filing of a release of liability. Rock climbing can be dangerous and most areas will require this release. This is a common rule at indoor climbing arenas also.
