Living With The Cat - Chapter 2

April 04, 2008 By: admin Category: Pets No Comments →

When your little cat ended up the morning meal, just have a little patience, because in the next few minutes it will be looking around for the right place to do its necessities. Show him the pet-toilet; help him to climb into it. If necessary give him an idea, moving his foreleg back and forth in the cat sand. He will like it and he will repeat it. After some seconds he or she will feel the urgent desire to sit down and have a pee or more. If everything works right, the animal should cover his “things” with sand afterwards. Give him a nice word and some caressing; take it out of the toilet. If you repeat this two or three times the animal will remember it for the rest of its life and you have one problem less. From now on you little cat knows the basic behavior inside of your house.

Talking Parrot - Do You Really Want One?

March 16, 2008 By: admin Category: Pets No Comments →

If you want a talking bird here are some things you should consider. Most of the birds who talk are some type of parrot. Not all parrot’s species are talkers, though. Some birds are well renowned for the talking, such as the African Grey parrots and budgies (often known as Parakeets), while others, such as ravens, really don’t have much to say.

The really good choice for a talking bird that isn’t a parrot is the European Starling. They are not expensive (free if you can catch one), legal to keep in most areas, talk well and have a great history on the stage. Starlings are an introduced species in North America, where they were imported for roles in Shakespearean plays. North America has about 200 million starlings. So there is more than enough to go around.

Horses Chew - But On You?

March 01, 2008 By: admin Category: Pets No Comments →

Horses chew, we all know that, but if you’ve ever watched horses out in pasture they’ll perform types of grooming and bonding rituals with their teeth. Take a look sometimes and you’ll notice many times horses standing together while one is almost seemingly biting the flesh of the other. They’ll grab a little bunch of flesh and in a careful way kind of nip away with a little tug of the skin. This is very common and it’s a cooperative event where one horse allows the other. I’m quite sure I wouldn’t discourage such behavior amongst horses.

February 22, 2008 By: admin Category: Pets No Comments →

Diabetes in dogs is associated with obesity through either over feeding or a high fat diet. Since today many dogs are overweight, you really have to look at the ingredients and avoid a diet high in fat and sugar in their food.

Causes of Diabetes in Dogs:

Many people are astonished to know that pet foods and treats contain sugar.
Do you know a dog that prefers sugar in its diet, as I have not met one lately.
I recently went to the local pet store just to read labels, and read the following

How To Teach Your Dog To Come Every Single Time You Call - Even When You Call Quietly And Calmly

February 08, 2008 By: admin Category: Pets No Comments →

It’s beautiful to watch. The dog is off the leash, up ahead of his owner, excited and relishing his independence he’s jumping, running in sort bursts, plunging with his nose into anything that looks interesting. And then his owner gently but firmly calls down the wind, “Here boy!” The dog drops what he’s doing, turns to look, then breaks into a happy run right back to his master’s side where he sits, looking him in the eye, tail wagging.

Who Was Really The Lucky One?

January 02, 2008 By: admin Category: Pets No Comments →

We almost brought home a pup when our daughter was 18 months old and I was pregnant with our son, Adam. At the last moment, we realized that this was probably not such a great idea. So we used the deposit for things our mischief-making, but much loved cat Snowy could use.

Our daughter Sarah was crushed. My husband told her that when we moved to a house and had a bigger yard that we would definitely get a dog then. We didn’t plan on moving for several years. But as life and Murphy’s Law would have it, we would up moving a year later. Sarah had learned how to take the safety gate off the stair case! So with her 6 month old brother in tow-we moved to a ranch-style home-quickly.

December 31, 2007 By: admin Category: Pets No Comments →

This is a story about a road trip I took with my dog this summer. This is an informational story that will provide some insight as to what you need to consider when you travel with your pet. My dog’s safety while in the car had to be considered. I needed to know where to make pit stops along the way. And I needed to know what hotels would allow her to stay.
